We have no current productions for this theater right now. They wanted to create a theater with a resident acting company that would perform the classics. The idea for a different kind of theater sparked in 1959 during a series of conversations among Guthrie, an acclaimed theater director, and his two colleagues, Oliver Rea and Peter Zeisler, who were all disenchanted with Broadway. The Guthrie has always been a theater built by and for the community, so we hope youll join us for this special commemorative season. By presenting both classical literature and new work from diverse cultures, the Guthrie illuminates the common humanity connecting Minnesota to the peoples of the world.
